Japanese Wood Yokogi in the Shape of a Closed Fan, Meiji Period

Jizai yokogi in the shape of a closed fan. Wood adjuster used in conjunction with jizai hook to suspend kettles over the fire, apertures on either end through which a rope was passed. Deep, lustrous patina, signs of wear, suspended in a metal sand to showcase the fine handcrafted work of a skilled artisan of the Meiji period, late 19th century. Measures 14" long.
