OT06 Antique Japanese Silver Hikite
This set of two matching Japanese sliding-door handles (hikite) appears to be for fusuma, sliding panels that are used in Japanese interiors to define space or used as doors. They are silver, in the lovely, whimsical design of a crane. They are displayed handsomely on black coated metal stands. The crane's eyes are copper nail heads. Light scratches on surface and normal wear on both. Both in good condition; beautiful for display. Mid 20th century. Measurements on stand: 4" tall x 3 1/4" wide. Each hikite: 3 1/4" tall x 3 1/4" wide x 7/16" deep.
