Ainu Bear, wood, Hokkaido, Japan. 20th century

Massive in size, this wooden bear with a fish in his mouth is handcarved  from one wooden piece of cryptomeria (cedar) wood by the indigenous ethnic group called Ainu, living in Hokkaido in the Japanese archipelago of Japan.  Mid-20th century.

In good condition, no cracks or losses.
