Japanese Fireman’s coat, sashiko , handmade buttons all,the way down the opening, indigo cotton lining, Stitched name “Watanabe” in front and emblem of some sort at the back probably denoting the Fireman’s station.  Unusual size of the garment suggests it might have been altered to fit the individual but the quality of the workmanship is above reproached.

In unbelievably beautiful condition, can be worn or a boon to a collector.  Rare find indeed.

Measures 24” across shoulders, 47” length, 13” sleeve.
