Pair of Porcelain Kitsune (Foxes), Japanese, Mid-century

Pair of KITSUNE (FOXES), Japanese, Porcelain, mid-century. Kitsune legends
abound in Japanese folklore. Most notably they are associated with Inari, the Shinto
deity of rice. They ae considered Inari’s messengers and this association has
reinforced their supernatural significance. Entire shrines are dedicated to Kitsune
and devotees can leave offerings.
This particular pair measures 14 ¼” x8” x 4 ¼”, excellent condition, no cracks or
losses.
